I'm feeling myself again

11/6/04 06:52 pm - Hello~!

Want to be friends? Stalk me for some reason? Leave a comment here and I'll add you back. Otherwise you can check out some of my public ramblings and such by clicking on the oh so cute buttons up top.

Before you consider adding me to your friends list, please note these few rules. They are simple.

1) Please speak english. Is there a point to me reading your journal if I don't understand what you're saying? No. So speak something I understand.

2) Do not expect me to comment on every single entry you post. I will not. I don't expect you to comment on mine either. This journal is for myself and for other people to see my thoughts. I will not pretend to care about you and I don't expect you to care about me either. Though if you do genuinely care, thank you :)

3) Do not hit on me, you will die. By the hands of my hot tempered .

That is all, enjoy your stay

Top Ten Reasons I Am Vegetarian

1. I think it is contradictory to admire animals in one hand and go gobbling them up in the other.
2. I refuse to participate in indirectly slaughtering innocent lives, and fattening the wallets of big wig executives.
3. I want to respect my body and the bodies of every living creature on earth.
4. I am not worthy enough to decide when the life of another living creature should end.
5. I believe animals feel pain, and as a compassionate being will avoid causing them pain.
6. I am disgusted that people eat other animals because they "taste good", because this is equivalent to killing for fur.
7. I hope that others will be more aware of the well being of others (animals and people) as a whole.
8. I can help boost my immune system in order to live a longer, happier life.
9. I will stand up for creatures that cannot defend themselves from those that wish them harm.
10. I feel in my heart it is the right thing to do.

On Struggle - April 18,2007

What if struggle were eliminated? What if everyone didn't have to do anything? How boring would the world become? I believe we'd all revert to some stupid age of dumbfounded innocence. Struggle is what generates life. If a molecule didn't move, didn't make that effort to vibrate in albeit such an insignificant amount, the breadth and sheer explosion of life would not have occurred. Struggle at any level of being is what defines existence. I suppose I'm agreeing with the Buddhist vision of life but that's what all life boils down to, what nature boils down to. We are all on a journey towards an end, it is the struggle to go on and on into infinity to perpetuate life with strife. In our effort to reach a point of calm and nothingness we eventually must continue to struggle and simply be.

3/28/04 12:35 am - On Faith

On Faith - April 17,2007

We were discussing what we have faith in and the immediate answer that came to my mind was 'tomorrow'. Other people will point out specific endeavors and goals but ultimately the fundamental faith we all should have is the belief that there will be a tomorrow. All other possibilities in life are based upon that simple idea, that there will be a tomorrow and life can continue perpetually. I think most people overlook this fact every single day, not because they choose to, but because they've grown so monotonous and single goal oriented beneath the pressures of peers and society. To have faith in tomorrow no matter how bad life may seem within a particular moment, I believe, will help anyone view life in a more positive light. It doesn't matter where we all begin because we all are striving towards tomorrow, and to have faith in that connection is to have faith and belief in the potential and goodness of mankind.

On Love - May 17,2007

After finishing The Left Hand of Darkness and presenting it to my philosophy class, I have came to the conclusion that lesbians and gays are more human than any of us. Why? Because they see beyond what is normal, and what is "ordained" by a set of superior (so called) persons. Although personally, I could not imagine being physically attached to another female, this particular book examines the very core of humanity and the love that exists when all else is taken away. My own belief, that love does not depend on ones body, was verified by this book, and the potential that humans are capable of is displayed, with nature taking it to its culminating form: humans who can be either male or female. Obviously this is not normal, not what we are used to, but philosophy has shown me that to grow and become enlightened we must always challenge what is normal and never accept things so naively. Love in its purest form does not take into account one's own desire and preference. When every prejudice we hold is eliminated and all that is left is our mutual journey toward death, there can be nothing else but love.

3/28/04 12:10 am - On Life & Death

On Life & Death - July 17,2007

When I was younger, about 7 or 8, my grandmother died of breast cancer. At the time, I was unaware of what cancer, let alone breast cancer even was. When we talk about my grandma today, my mom would tell me how I could still see her around our house after her death. It would scare my mom and there were even instances when my mom herself saw my grandma still wandering around our, at the time, new house. I never really knew my grandmother as much as I'd like to but maybe that's for the best. If those Daoists are right and death is simply another part of living, then we'll meet again. Although I won't lie and say dying is not a scary thing, because it is, since there are so many things I wish I to accomplish and prove to myself with this life. It's a shame that there are people who are so willing to die, whether it be for a good cause or because life has grown too much to handle. Sometimes hardship is necessary, and overcoming it is what life really means, and if one's life is not filled with hardship, it is necessary to see what hardship is, and to appreciate what one has. Death is the great equalizer. Though in life we may stray from one another, death reunites us.

3/28/04 12:09 am - On Youth & Old Age

On Youth & Old Age - July 31,2007

What does it mean to be young and to be old? Both terms can be used with negative connotation, however I think they both have advantages. To be young is to see everything anew, to allow oneself to be naive and accept things as they come and not to cloud ones thinking with muddled expectation. In the eyes of a child everything is wondrous, the subtle details in life are not so, and ones mind can be adventurous and fearless. And then, there is old age, where wisdom accumulated over a lifetime of hardship and joy festers in the memory of one person. Physically, they cannot act as they once could, and their minds may be too fuzzy and dim to appreciate the new world that has changed around them, but there is wisdom there. Valuable wisdom, that when coupled with the exuberance and determination of youth may bring a person closer to something greater.
